New York Dental Network - Frequently Asked Questions |
| Q. My child needs braces that will cost more than $6,000. My regular dental insurance covers braces up to $1,500., leaving out of pocket cost at $4,500. Can I use this network plan to cover a portion of the excess? |
| A. This plan can stand alone to reduce fees for braces, or it can be coordinated with traditional insurance plans. Click here to see coordination of benefits information posted on this website. Each case must be calculated in consultation with the dentist. This plan, in coordination with your existing dental insurance, may reduce your out of pocket cost to $3500-$3800, saving you an additional $700 to $1000. |
| Q. I am considering six dental implants that will cost approx. $3,500 each. Will these services be covered by my NYDN plan? |
|

Each group member will enroll at our website and set up automated payments via his or her credit card, debit card, or via eCheck. Simply by sponsoring or endorsing a Group Plan, at reduced cost, the employer is providing a financial benefit for employees. NYDN will send periodic census information to the Group, and the employer can reimburse employees, selectively, for any portion of cost. This is a simple solution that will help to reduce administrative costs for NYDN and the employer. Q. How many Members are needed to set up a group plan with NYDN? A. NYDN recognizes all valid business entities, including sole-proprietorships with only one eligible person. Organizations such as schools, government agencies, religious, charitable, fraternal, and trade organizations are eligible to join at the group rate. Q. Can my dentist join this network? A. You are welcome to submit the name of your dentist to us for consideration, or ask the dentist contact us. Q. Why do you post a range of rates for certain procedures? I need a crown and it looks like I could pay anywhere from $675. to $950. This is confusing. A. You are correct, it may be confusing. If you read notes attached to rate schedules, you will see an explanation for rate variation. Click here, and scroll to the bottom of the page to view rates footnotes. Please ask your dentist about his or her UCR (usual and customary cost) for the crown, and this will help you to understand how much you will save on this procedure. Rates may vary from dentist to dentist, but we expect our members to have comparable savings using the dentist of their choice. Q. Why do you list ranges of rates for certain procedures. Can't you just show ONE rate as the (average) regional rate, and ONE rate as the network rate? A. As mentioned in the question about Crowns above, we have found that each dentist has their own individual standards, procedure interpretation, lab selection, and overhead variations. All of these factors affect the fee structure. Our priority is to secure the sevices of quality dentists and then our members can select a provider, sometimes in consultation with the dentist, based upon a variety of factors. Q. Is my live-in nanny eligible for network dental benefits? A. Yes, all members of your household, related or not, are eligible to join at the family-household rate. Additionally, a household member living away at college is covered. Q. How can I manage my NYDN account? A. Once enrolled in this plan, any member can manage his or her account at our website. Click here to log in to manage your account. Member can change from single to family status or vice-versa, or change banking and credit card information, or terminate membership, etc. Q. What is the best way to contact NYDN? A. The best way to contact NYDN is via email. Members, Dentists and Agents can enroll and manage their accounts directly at our website. If you have an emergency, feel free to call us. Click here for our full contact information page. Q. Does the dentist pay a fee for being a participating dentist on this site? A. No. It does not cost the dentist anything to participate with New York Dental Network, LLC. Q. What does "Regional Fee" mean, on the Rates and Procedures page? A. The Regional fees posted are representative of actual fees charged by private practice dentists contacted by New York Dental Network, LLC in the NYC Metro area. Some fee variation was found due to differences in office overhead, materials, lab fees, and other professional considerations. Q. I plan to have two labial veneers...porcelain laminates. This is based upon a pre-existing condition and it is also considered cosmetic. My insurance company will not cover this. What will NYDN do? A. NYDN will cover all veneers immediately. We have no limitation for pre-existing conditions or cosmetic dentistry. |
